ARBDB CHAMBERS MEMBERS, PETER MCQUEEN AND MICHAEL COVER, PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF MARITIME ARBITRATORS XX (ICMA XX) IN COPENHAGEN 25- 29 SEPTEMBER 2017

ArbDB Chambers Members, Peter McQueen and Michael Cover, participated in and made substantial contributions to ICMA XX in Copenhagen, which was organised with the Danish Institute of Arbitration.
Peter McQueen was the Chair of the Topics and Agenda Committee, which had put together a great programme of 120 presentations over the four days of the Congress covering a wide range of hot topics international maritime law and arbitration. The Congress was attended by some 250 delegates from 35 different countries, many of whom being leading international maritime arbitrators. The feedback on the congress has been very positive.
Michael spoke at one of the breakout sessions on the Monday afternoon, entitled 'Dispute Resolution Clauses', which was moderated by Datuk Professor Sundra Rajoo, the Director of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. Michael's topic was 'Combined Dispute Resolution Processes- trends and challenges- heresy or what the market might want?'
The Paper looked at the growing respectability of hybrid dispute resolution processes and in particular, conflict avoidance panels.
