Dr. Johanne Cox, Arbitrator

 

Dr. Johanne Cox is a full-time independent arbitrator with over 20 years' experience in international arbitration. She has led arbitration practices at leading law firms in London and Cairo and spent 10 years working and practicing in the MENA region between 2010 and 2020 in Egypt, the UAE and Qatar. 

 

Johanne arbitrates both common and civil law disputes and accepts appointments in commercial, energy, construction and investor state arbitrations. In addition to decades of experience in commercial arbitration, Johanne has substantial experience in investment treaty arbitration having acted as counsel representing both foreign investors and States in ICSID arbitrations. Her book, Expropriation in Investment Treaty Arbitration (2019), Oxford University Press, is a global publication.

 

Johanne is a Solicitor-Advocate in England & Wales, a Solicitor (non-practicing) in the Republic of Ireland, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a Member of the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
