Geoff Farnsworth

Geoff is now an independent Arbitrator, dealing with complex domestic and international disputes, including charterparties, contracts of affreightment and bills of lading.

Geoff is one of Australia’s leading transport and commodities lawyers, with more than 25 years’ experience in this field.

As a lawyer, Geoff practised in complex commercial, disputes and regulatory matters for clients involved with the transport, agribusiness and energy and resources industries.

Geoff advised providers and consumers of shipping and logistics services (including manufacturers and retailers) in relation to long and short-term contractual arrangements, and represented parties in cross-border ship and yacht sale transactions, including conflict of law issues.

Geoff has experience gained acting as secretariat to Tribunals and is currently the President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Australia Branch).

Geoff is a Fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration and a Director and Honorary Life Member of Grain Trade Australia.
