ArbDB Chambers Member and Past President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Tony Canham, spoke at this event, which was held at Smith & Williamson’s London Offices on 15 November 2016.

Tony Canham spoke on ‘International Arbitration Protocols for the Use of Party-Appointed Experts appropriate for cases involving Russian Companies’ and covered the reasons for appointing experts, expert witness protocols and gave examples of typical orders and directions relating to experts that can be made by international arbitrators in such  cases. His slides and examples of orders and directions are available here [Download].

Other speakers covered whether the recent changes to Russian Arbitration Law had made Russia more attractive as a Seat (Place) for international arbitration and the hot topic of whether London can retain its position as a premier choice for Russian-related disputes, in the light of these changes, which may have the effect of Russian parties avoiding litigating or arbitrating in London.
